Since receiving its new issue license from FINRA, Drexel Hamilton has been involved in numerous municipal issues as both a Selling Group Member and Co-Manager. We strive to be the manager of choice for all new issues. As a small firm with a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, Drexel Hamilton can provide the type of dedicated, personal service unavailable at larger Wall Street firms. Furthermore, our intimate size allows our investment banking staff to work directly with our salespeople and traders, allowing for seamless coordination and unprecedented flexibility. This will allow Drexel Hamilton to build a schedule around the needs of the issuer, and provide for maximum opportunity for client-input/approval.
Our municipal team is led by Thomas Mead, Managing Director of Municipal Finance. Mead began his career at Salomon Brothers where he worked for 20 years, becoming Managing Director responsible for municipal sales, trading and underwriting. Prior to his arrival at Drexel Hamilton, Mead was a Managing Director at Ramirez & Company and President of WR Lazard & Company, where he brought unranked municipal divisions into the top ten of co-managed underwriters, underwriting a wide range of new issues across the country. Additionally, Mead has been financial advisor to the New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority for the last 20 years. Mead will be the team leader and chief point of contact at Drexel Hamilton for all municipal issues. He will be provided with technical support from Municipal Vice President, Eric C. Eberth. In addition, Mead will coordinate sales and distribution activities with the firm’s chief trader, John Glynn, who joins the firm after serving as Head of Trading in dollar denominated credit at J.P. Morgan’s London trading desk.
Anchored by a sales and trading force with a long and profitable history in the business, Drexel Hamilton is creating a unique breed of salesman/trader. Unlike larger firms where interaction across divisions is sparse, our firm’s salesman work side by side with our traders and investment bankers to cultivate a dynamic knowledge of both issuers and accounts across all fixed income sectors. Instead of executing one aspect of a sale or trade, our employees maintain a holistic knowledge of the process from start to finish. In short, they are generalists in the best sense of the word.
