Brady Miller, United States Marine Corps

Brady Miller enlisted in the Marine Corps through the Delayed Entry Program in 2001, and went to boot camp in 2002 after graduating from Gridley High School, in Gridley, IL. After boot camp, he completed the School of Infantry where he earned the Military Occupational Specialty of Mortarman before transferring to Twentynine Palms, California in November 2002.

In February of 2003 Private First Class Miller deployed to Kuwait with 1st Battalion 7th Marine Regiment. His unit advanced into Iraq, and spent 8 months there before returning to Twentynine Palms. Back in California, Brady’s unit developed training exercises to prepare units that were getting ready to deploy to Iraq.

In August 2004, Lance Corporal Miller was deployed to Iraq again and was stationed in Al Qa’im. During this deployment, while serving as a Mortar Team Leader on a convoy mission, LCpl Miller was hit with a Vehicle Born Improvised Explosive Device on October 24th 2004. Following his recovery, LCpl Miller returned to his unit and
continued with the deployment.

In early 2005, LCpl Miller and his unit returned to Twentynine Palms, California. He was promoted to Corporal, reenlisted for another tour, and transferred to Quantico, Virginia, where he served as a Mortar Instructor for newly commissioned officers at The Basic School. He was later promoted to Sergeant.

Sergeant Miller’s military awards and decorations include: Purple Heart Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; Presidential Unit Citation; Good Conduct Medal (2 Awards); National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War On Terrorism Service Medal; and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Brady and his wife, Kacie, a former Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps and their daughter Jadynn live in Fredericksburg, VA.
